First Time Homebuyer Workshops for 2008

All dates are Saturday.  Workshops begin at 9:00 AM and end at 5:00 PM.  The workshops are casual, a mix of lectures, discussion, and exercises.  Please feel free to dress comfortably.  We will take several breaks throughout the day, including an hour –long break for lunch.  There are several restaurants within walking distance and others within a short drive.  CCLT is unable to provide childcare, so please make other arrangements for the day. Pre-registration is required so that staff can have materials available for you.

Registration fee for the workshop is $30 for one person, $35 for two people from the same household. Pre-registration and pre-payment are required.

Here are a few things to keep in mind about the training day:

The workshop is informal. There will be a combination of short lectures, discussions, exercises, and opportunities for your questions. The goal is to help you understand as much as possible about the process of buying a house.

We will not ask about your individual situation or finances, but you are welcome to ask any questions that will help you make the right decisions for you and your family.

We will take breaks, including a longer lunch break. We will provide some light refreshments and coffee throughout the day.

Lunch will be on your own. There are several restaurants nearby or you can bring a bag lunch. The training room is locked during the lunch break, but we have a deck with tables and chairs that you are free to use, weather permitting.

Feel free to wear comfortable clothes.

We are not able to offer childcare, so if you have children please make alternative arrangements for them that day.

Although the Clackamas Community Land Trust is sponsoring this session, the day will not focus on land trust housing. The instructors will provide general information about the home buying process.
