Mission, Vision and Core Values

The mission of the Clackamas Community Land Trust is to provide permanently affordable homeownership opportunities and related educational resources to people of modest means. Our vision is that homebuyers of modest means in Clackamas County have access to healthy, quality homes, are successful in purchasing and maintaining their home, and see CCLT as their resource for all types of homeownership information.

The following core values guide the work of CCLT:

Empowerment: People can improve their lives when provided with tools and opportunity to build assets and develop leadership skills.

Opportunity: Families and individuals deserve opportunities to build better lives through homeownership.

Sustainability: Land, homes and organizations should be developed and managed in environmentally and economically sustainable ways.

Stewardship: Valuable resources merit careful, efficient oversight to ensure affordable homeownership for the public benefit of generations to come.

Community: Affordable homeownership, civic participation, and healthy, diverse and empowered populations build strong communities.

CCLT is committed to using our resources to promote a more sustainable world. Our commitment integrates methods and strategies that nurture and steward our natural capital, promote our community capital and make prudent use of our economic capital.

CCLT is the 2006 national winner of the Award of Excellence for Affordable Housing Built Responsibly, homeownership category, from the Home Depot Foundation.  This highly competitive award recognized the innovative and comprehensive green building approach that exemplifies CCLT’s commitment to sustainability.

Since our founding in 1999, we have created 31 homeownership opportunities in Milwaukie, Clackamas and Oregon City,  Oregon. We are currently implementing a program targeting the area around the North Clackamas light rail as well as building 12 LEED certified homes in Oregon City. We are always busy looking for new project opportunities. Our goal is to produce at least 10 homeownership units per year.

In addition to creating homeownership opportunities, CCLT is hard at work educating people to become homeowners. We have provided informationon our program andon the benefits ofhomeownership to hundreds of people since our doors opened, andtake pride in workingone-on-one with families as they prepare for homeownership.

Our Homeownership Resource Center (HRC) serves as a clearinghouse of information on homeownership. The HRC is open to the public, especially those working toward homeownership. We encourage you to visit the HRC, which is also home to CCLT’s offices and provides space for our workshops and meetings.
